Synthesis & Adoption

Pandanus billabong

This year is all about making our research more useful and more widely available.

For more than four years, TRaCK has been developing the tools and knowledge needed to sustainably use and manage Australia's tropical rivers and estuaries. The outcomes from TRaCK are already influencing water planning and management across northern Australia and the impact of research findings will continue to increase.
TRaCK has received funding from the National Water Commission to undertake a ‘synthesis and adoption’ year with targeted projects to ensure research findings are relevant and more widely available.

Representatives from the Northern Territory Department of Natural Resources, Environment, the Arts and Sport (NRETAS), Western Australian Department of Water (DoW) and Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) have been formally appointed to ensure TRaCK’s research is practically applicable and useful in each of the jurisdictions, but we are also working with a much wider group of stakeholders.

Synthesis products are being developed and refined through a series of issues-based workshops bringing together researchers and potential users.

These products include web based tools and information portals, and hard copy written materials appropriate for a range of audiences.
